【 Effect 】 Dandelion extract is used to treat liver and gallbladder obstruction, improve liver function, promote bile secretion, and be used as a diuretic.

Dandelion extract is used for liver inflammation and congestion. As one of the most effective detoxifying herbs, it plays a role in filtering toxins and waste from the bloodstream, gallbladder, liver, and kidneys. It can stimulate bile secretion and help the body eliminate excess water produced by the damaged liver. The Australian Journal of Medicinal Herbology, Volume 3 (4) of 1991, mentioned two experiments, one conducted by Vivarelli in 1938 and the other conducted in the UK, which demonstrated the hepatoprotective properties of dandelions. They found that dandelions have successfully treated diseases such as hepatitis, hydrocephalus, jaundice, and indigestion, which are accompanied by abnormal gallbladder secretion. It is also used in the early stages of liver cirrhosis such as alcoholic cirrhosis.

The extract of dandelion flavonoids can double the flow of bile. This role is crucial in the process of detoxification, as bile flow is essentially a natural secretion process that transports toxins from the liver to the intestine, where toxins are excreted from the body. A study in the UK found that in addition to accelerating bile flow, dandelion extract can restore bile function. Its cholestatic effect is very useful for inflammation of the liver and gallbladder, removal of gallstones and congestion, as well as jaundice.

Dandelion leaf extract is a powerful diuretic. Unlike many traditional diuretics, dandelion leaves do not filter out potassium from the body. In fact, dandelion leaves contain numerous amounts of this mineral, and can even serve as a potassium supplement. The diuretic effect of dandelion is reliable in the treatment of hypertension.
